Ch.2; Q.1

When it comes to choosing a career, it is vital to know what your weaknesses and strengths are. In college, they stress the importance of knowing weaknesses and strengths when choosing a major because if someone is not successful in public speaking, they would not become a lawyer or a teacher. I think that my strength is in deductive reasoning. Deductive reasoning is going from the general to the specifics, or also from cause to effect. I believe that this is a very good quality to have in the career of a lawyer. I want to pursue a career in law and I think knowing how to recognize the cause and the effect of a crime or issue would help win cases. It’s good to know what you are good at when picking a major or a career because it’ll be more enjoyable. Not knowing what you’re good at can result in changing majors multiple times and not being good at the career you chose.

  2. I absolutely agree with you on this. I think that if you don't know your strengths and weaknesses, you can end up choosing a career that doesn't fit you. You might even end up hating the job because you were not made for something that requires you to be strong in areas you are not strong in. I like that you know exactly want to do, but I think that people with undeclared majors can learn a lot from this section. If you find out what your strengths and weaknesses are when it comes to reasoning, then you can pursue a career that fits you in the right, instead of picking something quickly that doesn't fit who you are.

  3. I agree with you on the fact that deductive reasoning is an essential characteristic one must possess in order to become a lawyer. You will easily be able to deduct people's claims and figure out whether or not people are telling the truth or lying. Then having the characteristic will also allow you to put pieces together in cases that require more critical thinking. These strengths will ultimately help you pursue your career as a lawyer and figuring out what your strengths actually are could help people who don't know what pathway they are taking potentially find out what they want to do with their lives.
